Page speed has a massive impact on the search rankings of your website on Google. One of the most common causes of bloat on your website is the use of images that are not optimised or compressed. Here are some tools that can reduce the file size of your images without affecting quality:

1. For images that require a 1-to-1 compression, you can use Squoosh by Google. The tool lets you compare the original image and the compressed image so you can check for any reduction in image quality.
2. If you are optimising images in bulk, you can use TinyJPG. This tool allows you to upload up to 20 images at one time.
3. Major design software apps have an image compression feature, such as Affinity Photo’s export settings and Adobe Photoshop’s “Save for Web” feature.
4. Bonus – A developer tool such as TwicPics can be the ideal solution as these tools can compress and resize hi-res images automatically as the page loads.
