Pilot Light are a plumbing and heating company based in Edinburgh and the Lothians. They provide a range of services including electrical maintenance and kitchen and bathroom installations. They required the creation of new branding, including a new logo, which will be used in various media such as van prints, staff uniforms and magazine adverts.
The Pilot Light logo features a blue illustration, which represents the blue pilot light flame. The logo was drawn using Adobe Illustrator.
The services page were designed to be image-heavy and text-light, so the customer can identify a service quickly and easily, without having technical knowledge.
The projects pages were designed in a blog-post style, which guides the customer through the process of work that was completed. This way, the customer understands the process more clearly and has more appreciation for the work that has been completed.
The typeface used on the website is Raleway, which is used headings and the body text typeface is Roboto. Raleway is a strong and bold typeface, which builds trust with the user. Roboto is a sleek font that helps the user read blocks of text more easily.
The colours scheme is predominantly black and white as this ensures easy readability of the text. Blue is introduced in background colours as well as button and element active states, as this ties in with the colours of the company logo and improves website branding cohesion.
The wireframes were created using Balsamiq Mockups and the designs were created using Sketch for Mac. The designs were then shared with the client via the prototyping tool, Invision.
A Facebook account was created for Pilot Light and the necessary images were supplied such as logo, banner image and website launch device mockup images.
HTML, CSS, JQuery, PHP, WordPress, Photoshop, Sketch, Balsamiq Mockups and Cloudflare.
